HEAVY METAL REMOVAL SYSTEMS
Common heavy metals like Nickel, Chrome, Zinc, Cadmium and Copper are typical byproducts of industrial and laboratory processes and can pose considerable health risks to human beings. It is required that their presence in wastewater be reduced to legal levels before being discharged into the environment as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Packaged and custom Heavy Metal Removal Systems from Wastech, which utilize both precipitation and ion exchange technology, are designed to assist industrial facilities in eliminating or reducing the existence of up to 21 heavy metals from their process wastewater. In instances where wastewater is highly-concentrated with heavy metals, precipitation processes are used, whereas the ion exchange method is more appropriate for treating wastewater with lower concentration of heavy metals.
Which type of system is right for your process?
Batch Heavy Metal Removal Systems are capable of removing all metals in batches ranging up to 2000 gallons of wastewater at a time. For these applications, Wastech requires that a sample be sent in of the process waste fluid, where it will it will be subjected to multiple tests and analysis in our laboratory. Once the sample analysis is complete, Wastech’s team of chemical, mechanical, control and electrical engineers can recommend the optimal solution and system that is appropriate for your particular application.
Continuous Heavy Metal Removal Systems are extremely effective in treating large amounts of wastewater with flows higher than 15 gpm, whereas Batch systems are effective for processing smaller volumes.
